Gorgonzola-Green Chili Squares by crazy’boutcookin’

3 cups milk
1 garlic clove, minced
1 1/2 tsp. salt, divided
1 cup quick-cooking grits
1/2 cup crumbled gorgonzola cheese
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup whipping cream
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 egg whites lightly beaten
1 4 oz. can chopped green chilies
2 TBS parmesan cheese
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper

Bring milk, garlic, and 1 tsp salt to a boil in a medium saucepan; Gradually stir in grits. Reduce heat. Stir occasionally to keep from lumping.. until grits are done. This should take 5-7 minutes.
Melt butter in microwave.
Stir in gorgonzola cheese and melted butter.
Stir in 1/4 tsp salt, whipping cream, and remaining ingredients; pour into a lightly greased 13 x 9 inch pan.
Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes.
Cool on a wire rack for 20 minutes. Cut into 1 inch squares. Refrigerate or freeze in airtight container.  Thaw out (if frozen) or bring squares to room temperature.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 -12 minutes.
Place on tray. And serve.
